It's been 2 wks since the COTH youth went out into the world as members of Street Invaders. Youth leader Noelle called with this update on what's happened after a week of training in Eston:
Noelle, Jessica and Samantha left for Calgary to board a flight for Scotland. Their first leg of the journey was to work in a Youth Center in Inverness. They'll then travel to Edinburgh to work in a Fringe Festival. 'It is an Arts Festival where they will be performing drama and speaking to people.'
Nick has been sent to the multi-cultural city of Brooks, Alberta. His second week will be spent working in a camp in Cypress Hills.
Also Alberta bound, Nastassja has gone to Camrose. She's working with a Children's club doing VBS with young children.
Jason has stayed in Saskatchewan and is involved with Morning Star Ministries in Regina. 'His group is called the Compassion Team and will be doing household repairs and such for people in the inner city and Indian Head.' Youth Pastor David Stonechild is heading up this team since Pastor Glen Povey is in a Regina hospital.
On Aug 16th, I'll be heading to Moose Jaw to pick up all the kids except for Noelle who is flying on to Germany from Scotland.
Please pray for the youth, and Noelle, and all the mission teams out there. They need strength and wisdom as they spread God's Word to others.
And pray that God will give them peace and comfort as they work out of their environment, so far from loved ones. Three weeks is a long time to be away from home when you're only 14 yrs old, like Nastassja, Jason and Nick. (Nastassja is battling homesickness and from what I gather from his text messages, Nick is missing home as well.)
Pray also for their safe return the weekend of Aug 15/16.
If you have a word of encouragement for these young people, please leave a comment here, or on the Montmartre/Glenavon Youth Group page on Facebook. (Yes, Jess was on Facebook one night)
